Potential Delays in Construction Supply Chain
Please be aware of potential delays in the construction supply chains that may impact projects. Information continues to evolve on a daily basis but some comments and/or concerns that we have heard from industry sources are listed below:
Lighting Manufacturers - A majority of LED light sources are manufactured in China and although we have not heard of specific delays yet from manufacturers, this has the potential to impact the lighting manufacturers from a timeline perspective.
HVAC Equipment – Stocks of replacement components (many manufactured in China or elsewhere overseas) have been depleted from stock in America and delays are expected due to manufacturing delays and extended customs timelines.
Furniture – We understand that Steelcase and some Italian furniture manufacturing has shut down but there seems to be a variety of levels of operations among manufacturers, this is continuing to evolve and specific schedule questions need to be asked of Furniture Dealers and Manufacturers on specific projects to confirm lead times.
Windows – We have been informed that Architectural Windows, a New Jersey based window manufacturer, which produces replacement windows for many of our educational facilities has been shut down for three weeks and are unsure when they will be able to resume production.
Approval Process – The cancellation of public hearings, delay or refusal to accept new permits and delays in on-site construction inspections are also expected in the upcoming months.
